Concussion Awareness in Youth Athletics

The impact of concussions in all athletes, professional, amateur, and youth, has led to a greater understanding of the effects it has on the brain. In an effort to improve the knowledge of our officials, coaches, parents, and players, we have taken some proactive steps. Awareness classes for our coaches have been held in the past and we have recently upgraded our site with information from the Center for Disease Control (CDC) who has one of the most comprehensive sites on this topic. We recommend that all parents and players take advantage of this information and become knowledgeable regarding possible symptoms and treatment of concussions.

Concussion Fact Sheet For Parents

The East Hartford Soccer Club is an organization formed entirely by volunteers committed to creating a fun and safe environment to introduce soccer skills to the youth of East Hartford. East Hartford Soccer Club programs focus on the best interests of the players in an atmosphere of wholesome community participation with an emphasis on being dedicated to helping children enrich their lives and on becoming good and decent citizens in the community. EHSC recreational programs strive to inspire youthful participants with the fundamental principles of teamwork and fair play, while having a focus on FUN.

All board members, directors and coaches are volunteers. We are currently facing an extreme shortage in volunteers.  Volunteer directors, coaches and assistants are needed in all age divisions, especially for players in grades Pre K - 2nd.  Board positions are also open.  No experience is necessary, training will be provided.

If you have enjoyed the program and would like to see it continue to grow, please consider volunteering for a board position.  All board volunteers should anticipate a minimum commitment of two years (4 seasons, spring and fall).  Without dedicated volunteers, this program would not be possible.  Please carefully consider becoming a volunteer to keep soccer going for the children of East Hartford.

Please stay tuned for upcoming Volunteer Meeting Dates.  Volunteer Meetings are intended for prospective volunteers to have the opportunity to meet current coaches, board members and find out more about the program and training.  All volunteers must complete an online volunteer disclosure form and provide ID.
